ARNOLD STRIKES AGAIN: First he comes out for redistricting reform, and now Arnold Schwarzenegger is calling for a ban on junk food in California schools. With health care costs soaring and waist lines in America expanding, this is exactly the kind of measure politicians should be proposing. Arnold endorsed a current bill proposed by a Democratic legislator that would ban soft drink sales in schools, and indicated that he would propose a more comprehensive bill targeting snacks as well. We should be teaching kids how to eat properly, instead of loading them up with fat and sugar at school. Again, Arnold is proposing common-sense solutions to problems, and he's willing to work with the other party to get things done. National Democrats should take notice. They certainly should continue opposing Bush's plans on Social Security, but they need to start advancing new policy ideas that will resonate with voters.
