Duke Cunningham Scandal
What should we call this scandal? It started with Duke Cunningham taking bribes from defense contractors, but now it's evolved to include poker parties and possibly hookers. Along the way Porter Goss and some of his cronies he brought over to the CIA have been dragged into this mess. More Congressmen might be next. So maybe we should call it Hookergate.
LATEST NEWS:
Investigation Expands
The AP provides a detailed account of how the investigation is expanding well beyond the allegations San Diego businessman Brent Wilkes paid Cunningham to win government contracts with his companies. Cunningham has plead guilty to taking bribes, but thus far Wilkes ha only been named as an unindicted co-conspirator.
The FBI is now looking into lawmakers and other government officials who had contacts with Wilkes. This apparently led them to Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, the #3 man at CIA who was put there by Porter Goss. Foggo has been friends with Wilkes for years, and now is under suspicion for helping one of Wilkes' companies get a water contract in Iraq. In a shocking development, the FBI raided Foggo's home and office at the CIA. Foggo had admitted to going to some of Wilkes' "poker" parties, though he claimed he never saw any hookers at the parties.
Many expect more Congressmen and other governmental officials to be implicated in this scandal.
Hookers and Poker
The Hooker story broke when it was learned that Mitchell Wade, who was convicted for bribing Cunningham, told investigators that he also supplied Cunningham with hookers.
Foggo's Home, Office Searched
In a stunning development, the FBI searched the home and office of Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, the outgoing #3 man at the CIA. What a mess.
